Russ Little asked me to make it known to our membership that Woodcraft is looking for experienced woodworkers, especially turners, for the Tigard store.  If it sounds interesting, contact Woodcraft in Tigard at (503) 684-1428.

At the AAW Symposium in Atlanta there was a special session on remote demonstrations.  Since we had talked about this, I thought you might be interested in a more detailed look at the process.  I'm even more interesated now.

Last year, Miguel Hernandez donated a box of old wooden planes.  I bought them and sent them to my friend Joe in North Carolina.  He is an old school tool guy.  he repaired a couple of the planes for his use.  In the box was a set of planes for making window frames.  Joe is a friend and student of Roy Underhill (The Woodwright's Shop on PBS).  Underhill was thrilled to get the planes since they are impossible ot find since the advent of the router and will use them in his class on window frame production and possible on TV.

    Nothing goes to waste.

Those planes beyond repair were given to one of Joes friends that has a pirate theme restaurant for the display on the ships carpentry shop.

I couldn't figure out how to post the picture here so I put it up in Gallery page

Bill Wood was an avid turner and member of NWWT until he passed away in 2013.  Many of us knew him well.. Bill had a meticulous shop with all the dream tools.  His estate is  now up for sale and will include most everything he owned.  Several higher end power tools, many hand tools, and a good supply of lumber are for sale.

His unique one-of-a-kind 60" lathe is also for sale along with his chucks and gouges- see details at

The Guild of Oregon Woodworkers is hosting this estate sale so look for signs.

His address is 18101 S Charlie Ct. , Oregon City.  It is a couple of blocks off Redlands Rd. Watch for parking assistants..

Rockler is again sponsoring a free tool swap meet at their Beaverton store.  Anyone interested in setting up a table for selling your tools, please contact the store at 503-762-7266 or email at

There is no fee and what you sell is up to you. However what typically sells well are hand tools, small power tools  larger stationary tools, woodworking supplies, and materials.  Completed projects usually don’t sell well, but you can try.

Members - Mark this day for some great deals.
