     Ornamental Lathe for Sale

    $500

As we’ve previously reported, one of the Woodturners of Olympia members, Larry Hauch, recently passed away and willed an ornamental lathe to the club.  The board has decided to sell it with the profits benefiting the club.

Ornamental turning for those not familiar with it produces beautiful and intricate designs in wood.  The lathe being offered is also known as an MDF Rose Engine, which uses rosettes and cutters to make the intricate patterns.  More information can be found on the recognized US Ornamental expert, Jon Magill, web site: http://www.rogueturner.com/root/Home.html

The lathe being offered for sale includes the following components:

     MDF Rose engine base

     Two rosettes

     Trim router and speed control

     Quick change tool post

     Storage base with wheels

     Multiple carving/cutting bits

Contact Larry Miller on 360-412-1583 or sawdusterlarry@hotmail.com if you’re interested or would like to see it in person.

I got this email this morning:

Starting tomorrow morning (for about 3 days) I am having a very large old wild cherry tree cut down at my rental in Eastmoreland (SE Portland).  It might be 70 or 80 feet high (but I'm bad at those estimates) and I'd guess that I can only reach a bit over half way around it with both arms.  I hate for the wood just to be disposed of if anyone could use it in woodworking of some kind.  It's very sad to cut it down, and I'd love for something new and beautiful to come of some of it.  Is there anyone in your group who might be interested in using some?

If you think there might be someone interested, please contact me soon, before it is all carried away.
