Red Oak Tree coming down this week in north Beaverton

Thanks to a tip from member Helen Brown, there's a very large red oak tree coming down on Wed/Thursday, Dec 6th and 7th, in the Oak Hills area of north Beaverton. Tree is 80 ft. tall and about 48" diameter at the base.  The owners, Dan and Nancy Smith, at 2845 NW 154th Ave, Beaverton, are receptive to wood turners showing up at their home after the tree is down to take pieces of the cut tree.

NOTE: The owner doesn't want us to show up on Wed/Thurs and direct the tree cutting company. You may be there and take wood away as it is cut. On the next two remaining weekends, a crew from Woodcutters will be there to haul it away where it is given to low income families as firewood.

If you are interested you may show up and take wood away this week or later.  There is a 4 ft. wide gate to the back yard and there is a slight upslope of the ground to the tree. Suitable for a hand truck or wheel barrow if you bring one.  If you have more questions, you may call the owner at 503-690-7597.  The owner told me it is not necessary to make an appointment; you can show up during "normal daylight hours", but it is OK to call ahead of showing up.
